For Interior Designers

The piano is part of the room. We know this.

Edelweiss works directly with interior designers from early concept through to installation. We understand material palettes, programme pressure, and clients who change their minds.

Our position

Built for the home.
Designed for the room.

Every Edelweiss piano is made in Cambridge and conceived, from the outset, to live in a considered interior. Not a music room. A home. The finish, the proportion, the colour, the material — each one chosen or specified, not defaulted to.

We have worked alongside interior designers since our earliest workshops. We understand that a piano is often the largest single object in a room. We treat it accordingly.

Our finishes can be matched to Farrow & Ball and Little Greene colour systems. Our team is comfortable at concept stage. Floor plan templates, CAD models, and photo-real renders are provided as standard.

That day I just realised — nothing is impossible with Edelweiss."

Our interior designer introduced your name to us. Then we went to Harrods. And the moment we saw it, we were just sold."

Why Edelweiss

Not a variation on what already exists.

The established piano industry works to a narrow palette. A handful of finishes. A standard configuration. The instrument arrives looking the way the maker decided it should look.

Edelweiss works differently.

Every piano we build is fully specified by the person who will own it. Sygnet and Flügel are available in any colour. Aurora goes further. Any colour, any material, any finish. The full Farrow & Ball and Little Greene ranges as a starting point, and well beyond them for the right commission. We have finished pianos in crystal, brushed copper, poured resin, gold leaf, and shades that did not have names before someone asked us to match them. No other piano maker offers this as standard.

Complete customisation.
Any colour across the range.
Self-play included as standard on every instrument.
Aurora. Patented, British-built, fifty years in the making.

Self-play is included on every instrument. The piano performs whether or not anyone is seated at the keys. Felt hammers strike copper strings. A fully acoustic grand piano, playing itself, controlled from an iPad. The sound is live because it is live.

Aurora, our principal instrument, is designed and built entirely in Britain. Its engineering is patented. The result of fifty years of restoration knowledge, rethought from first principles. Serious pianists who sit down at it rarely talk about anything else afterwards.

These are not refinements to a traditional piano. They are reasons to own one that the traditional piano market cannot offer.

Three ways to specify

Each route is built around different timelines and levels of creative ambition. The standard of instrument is the same across all three.

Every finish shown here was chosen by a client.

The inspiration gallery collects real commissions. Colours, materials, and contexts from projects already delivered. A useful starting point for any brief.

01

From Stock

From 3 weeks

A piano from our current collection in one of our existing finishes. The fastest route to a confirmed specification. Suited to projects with firm delivery dates, or where one of our curated finishes already sits within the brief.

02

Configured

six months

Start with one of our models and specify it as you need. Finish, colour, hardware, interior materials. Physical samples are produced and sent for sign-off before the build begins. The right balance of pace and creative control for most residential projects.

03

Bespoke

six to twelve months

A blank canvas. Proportion, finish, material, form — worked out from first principles with our design team. Suited to commissions where the piano is central to the architectural thinking of the space, not incidental to it.

How a project typically moves

Every project is different. But most designer commissions follow a similar structure. We are direct at each stage. We do not hold things up.

Stage 01

Initial Brief

A conversation or a written brief. Budget, timeline, room dimensions, design direction. Floor plans and mood boards welcome, but not required at this stage. We ask only what we need.

Stage 02

Options and Renders

Our design team presents three directions. Each arrives as a photo-real render and a DWG/CAD model, ready to drop into your own presentation. No watermarks. No conditions.

Stage 03

Samples and Deposit

Once a design is confirmed, we produce physical samples and post them directly to your address. Signed-off samples release the build. A 50% deposit is required at this point. The balance is due before delivery.

Stage 04

Build and Delivery

Every piano is built in our Cambridge workshops. Before delivery is booked, each instrument goes through a full quality review. Installation is arranged around your programme.

From a designer

The Edelweiss team understood the brief before I had finished explaining it. The piano arrived exactly as specified. The client has not stopped talking about it."

Residential interior designer, London

Lunch & Learn. Cambridge or your studio.

Our team visits design practices to present the full Edelweiss range in person. We bring physical samples, a focused talk on the design and engineering of our instruments, and time to work through the questions specific to your project.

Sessions run approximately 45 minutes and are open to your whole team. We can come to you, or welcome you to our Cambridge showroom.

Honest. Specific. Worth an hour of your time.

Available across the UK. European and US studio visits on request.

Three grands. Each one distinct.

Sygnet is the world’s smallest grand piano. Characterful, design-led, made as much for the room as for the music. Aurora shares its footprint but little else. Patented engineering, a six-figure instrument, built entirely in Britain. Flügel is our full-scale grand, for rooms with the scale to hold one.

For the right interior, there is also the transparent upright.
Sygnet and Flügel are available in any colour. Aurora is available in any colour, any material, and any finish.

Every model includes self-play as standard.
