Behind The Scenes: The Making of The Ultimate Gift

A Legacy in Motion

The Ultimate Gift was created to be more than just an advert. From the first concept to the final cut, every detail was designed to show that an Edelweiss Piano is more than music.

Now, we’re inviting you behind the scenes of our short film. If you haven’t yet seen The Ultimate Gift, you can watch it below first.

Behind The Story

When developing the storyline, we took inspiration from real Edelweiss customers. Over nearly two decades of crafting bespoke pianos, the stories that stay with us are those of people seeking to gift something extraordinary – a piano that will become part of a loved one’s life for generations to come.

The piano has long been the traditional heartbeat of the home, and although times are changing, we believe it still belongs there – not just as an instrument, but as a work of art. As the centrepiece of memories and tradition, an Edelweiss shapes stories. From the moment a grandchild discovers their first notes, to family milestones that will echo for years to come – The Ultimate Gift celebrates all of these moments.

Crafting The Vision

Bringing this vision to life required a team as passionate as we are about storytelling. From a dynamic production company capable of translating our concept into cinematic reality, to actors who could bring authenticity and emotion into every frame, collaboration was everything.

Define Creative, a video production company also based in Cambridge, infused the story with punchy emotion and visual flair. Their creativity didn’t just shape the campaign, it made the process a remarkable experience of its own.

On Set at Histon Manor

After weeks of hoping for good British weather, the day of the shoot finally arrived. We had the privilege of filming at Histon Manor, a stunning Grade II listed house that perfectly complements the elegance of The Transparent S132.

The morning began bright and early with the installation of the piano into the dining room, followed by a team introduction and on-set briefing. Stylists Louise Sykes and Lucy Champion worked in harmony to coordinate multiple wardrobe options and oversee interior styling, ensuring every frame effortlessly reflected the story’s meaningful warmth.

As the sound of piano keys echoed through the Manor, cameras captured moments both grand and intimate. Working with such a passionate cast made the story feel as real as the families who inspired it. The atmosphere was a blend of anticipation, creativity and pure joy – a day to remember for everyone involved.

Fun Fact: The tune that carries The Ultimate Gift was composed in-house by Lewis Newman, our talented self-taught pianist and Senior Sound Technician. His composition captures both the sentiment of gifting and the grandeur of a legacy being created.

Preparing For The Premiere

The excitement didn’t end with the final take. Watching the first edit of the film come to life at Edelweiss HQ was a magical moment – scenes imagined on paper now played in perfect harmony with Lewis’ track. Guided by Define Creative’s meticulous attention to detail, the story we envisioned finally came alive on screen.

The Heart of The Ultimate Gift

The Ultimate Gift isn’t just an advert – it’s a celebration of what a piano can be in the home and how gifting one is profoundly meaningful.

Our hope is that viewers leave inspired to reflect on the stories of their own lives, and how you can create a legacy with Edelweiss.
