The moon. A quiet presence, felt before it is understood.
Luna. Not designed to look like the moon, but to feel like it.

Its form draws on the symbolism and abstraction of the lunar landscape. The crescent lid echoes the changing phases of the moon. The music desk recalls a moonrise over the horizon. Sculpted apertures reference cratered surfaces, while the silhouette shifts as the lid opens and closes, changing like the moon itself.
The references are subtle, never obvious.
The moon doesn’t explain itself.
Neither does Luna.

Ottoman Bronze on the outside. Starlight Gold white gold leaf within. Some materials have a relationship with light that goes beyond colour.
Ottoman Bronze liquid metal is one of them. In low light it deepens. In direct light it lifts. At dusk it does something that is difficult to explain, but very easy to remember.
The Starlight Gold interior is the counterpoint, giving where the exterior holds back. Open the lid and there it is.
The sculpture itself is unchanging. What it does to the light is not.
Luna. Atmosphere before object.
